Ignorance vs. Stupidity: A Dead Heat at CNN

CNN Ireport Badge

More and more I am convinced that legacy media folks -- contrary to the opinion of some conservatives -- are perfectly sincere.  Innocent of fact, curiosity or independent thought, to be sure, but sincere.  They believe they are right in most, if not all, things, and I think they might even feel sorry for the rest of us if sympathy wouldn't interfere with the pleasure they take in condescension.

They are True Believers; they practice their faith with a joy, zeal and fervor that many say has gone missing from the modern church and synagogue.  Steeped in leftist memes and dogma, loyal to Marxist orthodoxy and learned in every kind of relativism they are incapable of understanding opposing views.  But they are sincere.

On infrequent occasions I stumble upon an example that is so illustrative, instructive and elegant that, standing alone, it can argue my case far better than I.  Here, I'm indebted to the othermccain blog for publishing this video-interview of Pamela Geller by CNN's Erin Burnett.

How can we doubt the sincerity of Erin Burnett when she takes the time patiently to explain that "savage" is a "dictionary word"?  If I had only known!  But the striking aspect of Burnett's interview is not only her sincerity, but more, her faith -- her belief.  She is not arguing, debating or reasoning with Geller; she is preaching.  In effect, Ms. Geller is confronting the aggressive blindness of two religions simultaneously.

In the MSM struggle for supremacy between ignorance and stupidity it remains doubtful that there will be a clear winner.
